Peptic Ulcer Treatment with Apple Cider Vinegar

How does apple cider vinegar be a remedy for peptic ulcer?


Apple cider vinegar is used in many folk medicines successfully to lose weight and improve digestion.



However the success rate of apple cider vinegar in the treatment of peptic ulcer is still not clear. Studies and scientists still don’t give a green signal. Apple cider vinegar can act as a good home remedy to treat acid-induced ulcers as it activates the body to ignite its own defensive mechanisms.



So there may be a possibility that apple cider vinegar can help but researches are not clear yet. However besides apple cider vinegar there are many other options to treat peptic ulcers. Listed below are some of the precautions to be taken to prevent and heal peptic ulcers –
  • Avoid smoking or drinking alcohol completely as this can add stress on the present ulcers and prevent or delay their healing process.
  • Avoid eating spicy and oily foods as far as possible.



    Spices like pepper, chili, red peppers, green peppers, junk foods like pizzas, burgers, pastas and Chinese foods can aggravate your symptoms and pain.
  • Eat small meals at frequent intervals. Large meals or excess food when eaten at one time can cause excess acid production and aggravate the pain and symptoms of ulcer.
  • Focus on a healthy diet comprising of whole grains, cereals and its products, sprouts, beans, low fat dairy products, eggs, poultry without the skin and fish.
  • Avoid eating processed foods, refined foods, fried foods, oily foods, packed foods, canned foods as far as possible.
  • Certain foods act as triggers for some people. Learn to identify the food which triggers your symptom and avoid that particular food for some time till your ulcer heals. For example some people with ulcer cannot tolerate cabbage but for others cabbage may cause no problems.
  • Take adequate rest. Avoid any kind of stress as far as possible be it physical, psychological or emotional. Stress can aggravate ulcers and also prevent its recovery. So avoid any kind of anxiety, be patient and rest as much as you can.
  • Drink a lot of fluids but avoid drinking more fluids with your meals.
  • Never start any medications, supplements or herbs without consulting your specialist. As sometimes it can complicate your situation.
