Diabetes Prevention Diet

Diabetes mellitus is a condition wherein there is a rise in blood glucose levels which occurs due to the deficiency of insulin or defect in the functioning of insulin. This condition can be avoided if a healthy lifestyle is maintained.

Apart from heredity, certain environmental factors like diet, obesity, age and sedentary habits increase the risk of diabetes. Excess intake of fat and carbohydrates leading to higher intake of calories can enhance the body weight leading to obesity. If the individual have any of the above said factors then he is susceptible towards diabetes. It is very essential to prevent this disease at the earliest age. To prevent this, you need to maintain a balanced diet with regular exercise .A regular blood test for sugar, fasting and postprandial is necessary. Avoid fried and fatty foods, sweets and candies. Whole grain cereals, pulses and raw vegetables and fruits should be the call of the day. Regular exercises like briskwalking, swimming and cycling is recommended. Thus when we lead a healthy lifestyle our chances of developing diabetes are less. Thus with proper education, regular check up and diet we can reduce the susceptibility towards the incidence of diabetes.
