From all aspects, whole grains are recommended, instead of polished grains, as they are rich in fibre. Many B complex vitamins are lost during processing. The germ and the bran, lost during processing are rich in antioxidants, vitamin E, iron and magnesium. Brown rice, bulgar, barley, whole wheat, whole rye, oatmeal and bulgar fall under the whole grains category.
