Treating Gallstones with Diet Gall bladder is a small sac which stored bile which is secreted from the liver that is required for fat digestion. Gall bladder stones are mainly cholesterol stones which are formed when there is excess cholesterol present in the bile and gall bladder. - Focus on fresh fruits and vegetables, the more you eat the better for you. You can continue with your normal cereals, pulses, sprouts, pasta, rice and potatoes in the diet.
- Gradually lose weight to achieve your ideal body weight; however do not follow any fad diets which involve very low calorie consumption.
- Drink plenty of water and avoid large meals many hours before going to bed.
- Ginger and turmeric when added while preparing meals will have good antiseptic properties and shall also enhance bile flow.
- If possible avoid non-vegetarian preparations but occasionally a small serving of low fat fish or chicken and lean meat with all fat removed can be consumed. Avoid red meat and other non vegetarian foods like organ meats, egg yolk, pork, sausages and animal fat completely. Also avoid processed, denatured food, pickles, oily, fried or greasy food, alcohol, carbonated beverages, sodas, coffee and sugar.
- Include milk and milk products in double skimmed form and avoid consuming fresh milk with cream.
- Modify your cooking methods focus more on steaming grilling or boiling rather than shallow frying or deep frying methods.
