Diet tips to cure uric acid

Uric acid is a waste product of purine. It normally gets dissolved in the blood and gets excreted through the urine. However if higher levels of uric acid is produced and if the body is not able to excrete it efficiently then it leads to a condition called hyperuricemia. The normal values of uric acid are 4.0 – 8.5 mg/dl.People that are sensitive to high uric acid levels may form crystals that may tend to accumulate in the joints leading to gout formation. Uric acid stones are associated with gout and malignant diseases as well as gastrointestinal diseases. Foods that are rich in uric acid or any compound that can be converted to uric acid are beef, pork and poultry. Higher intake of animal protein is directly related to increased excretion of uric acid. Beer and wine are rich in purine and breads that contain yeast are rich in uric acid and hence needs to be avoided. The foods mentioned are also rich in protein; hence protein rich foods can increase the uric acid level. In case of hyperuricosuria protein content needs to be decreased.

To reduce uric acid in case of extreme uric acid levels, black cherry juice is useful. Improve the intake of folic acid .Except for cranberries, prunes and plums have all types of fruits. Have more of beets, turnip greens and spinach and nuts like coconut and almonds.
