Diet for Gallstone
Gall stones are formed by the hardening of the bile in the gall bladder. The bile, synthesised by the liver is stored in the gall bladder. It is used, at times of need, such as fat digestion. Bile comprises of bile salts, bilirubin, fats, water and cholesterol. The gall stones are of two kinds, namely pigment stone and cholesterol stones. Pigment stones are made of bilirubin and are small and dark.
Cholesterol stones are made of hardened cholesterol. Fibre in the vegetables and fruits are helpful. Sweet potatoes, okra, beets, avocados, green beans and beets are recommended. Onion and garlic is used for cleansing of liver. Cold water fish, shallots and tomatoes are beneficial. Flax and hemp are rich in omega 3 fatty acids. They are used with vinegar and lime juice, as dressing for salads.
A glass of warm water with lime juice in it aids in liver cleansing. Dandelion greens, beet greens, carrots and celery are some more vegetables that are helpful. Caffeinated beverages, chocolates, alcoholic beverages, ice cream, oats, wheat, rye and barley are better avoided. Fat restriction is not necessary after removal of gall bladder. Bulky stools are achieved by consumption of pasta, whole meal bread and brown rice.
