Home Cures for Cough Cough is an involuntary action by which any foreign matter that makes an entry is expelled. It is a common symptom associated with an upper respiratory infection. Ginger is an easily accessible home remedy for cough. Equal proportions of honey and ginger juice are effective against cough. This is consumed twice or thrice a day. Ginger powder with pepper powder is made into a paste and is consumed three to four times a day. Ginger is an excellent remedy for cough.
Pepper powder, dried ginger powder, cardamom and cloves are added to boiling water. A teaspoon of tea powder is optional. Mix sugar or honey and drink the tea 2-3 times a day. A cup of water boiled with holi basil leaves and dried ginger powder is also helpful. A teaspoon of ginger juice with two to three teaspoons lime juice, 3 teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon of turmeric prove beneficial.
Other household remedies include steam inhalation, consumption of onion juice and thyme leaf juice. Water boiled with cumin seeds is also helpful against cough. Liquorice root, twice a day also proves beneficial. Gargling with thyme leaf juice is helpful.
