Diet is basically the amount of food and drink that you consume everyday. Dieting on the other hand is the selection of certain group or type of food that helps you to either control your weight or control your nutrient intake.

To lead a healthy and normal life, it is very vital that you follow a healthy and a well-balanced diet. This will require a total change in your lifestyle as well as your attitude. A well-balanced diet does not mean that you have to have very small portions or exclude certain groups of food. This will prove harmful in the long run. Make sure that you follow a diet that you can comfortably work with for the rest of your life. The best kind of diet is one that will include all your likes and dislikes as well as a huge variety of foods and drinks that contain all the calories, proteins, carbohydrates, nutrients, and so on for good health.

While planning a diet for yourself take into account your age, height, weight, the kind of activities you perform everyday, and the region that you live in. Based on these criteria, you need to decide the amount of calories that you will require every day. According to statistics, women require around 300-500 calories per meal and men require around 400-600 calories per meal, everyday.

Next is the amount of proteins that are required everyday. For women, an average of 50 grams of proteins per day is recommended and for men, an average of 63 grams of proteins per is recommended. This means that you need to eat around 2-3 servings of nuts, meat, fish, dry beans, eggs, poultry, etc every day to receive the required amount.

Then, it is the amount of carbohydrates that you require. A minimum intake of 100 grams of carbohydrates per day is a must to prevent tiredness and fatigue. You can get your carbohydrates from bread, rice, cereal, and pasta. Make sure you also include fiber in your diet. A daily intake of at least 20 to 30 grams of fiber is a must. Bran cereal, carrots, peach, papaya, pears, and figs are a good source of fiber. And finally, the most important of them all, is the fluid intake. A minimum of at least eight to ten glasses of water and a few glasses of juices is a must. Add some form of exercise to your routine, and you will be set for a healthy life.
