The three day diet is one of the most popular diets that is used to achieve a quick weight loss with no lasting effects whatsoever. As time goes by, more and more doctors are advising against the three day diet, for the simple reason that the weight loss is temporary, and the lost weight will probably come right back within a week of coming back to normal eating. The supposedly "magical formula" of ingredients that you will eat for three days which will make you lose weight is now being disdained by the medical community as nothing more than mere loss of water due to gross under eating. It is also being touted that if you eat the same quantity of any other kind of food, and not that specifically recommended by the three day diet, the weight loss will remain the same. Once again, the reason for this is that the diet contains very little by way of nutrients and ingredients that will allow you to put on weight. The significant thing is also that this diet is extremely low in salt, so the question of retaining even a small amount of water does not even begin to arise. This in itself will make anyone lose weight almost within 24 hours.

The diet also claims to magically boost metabolism in the body so that the fat burning process plays out quickly. This is primarily because it includes substances such as coffee, which will increase metabolism and make a person "hyper". Another major concern about this diet is also that it is so low in terms of calories that as soon as you are off the diet, you will probably gain more weight than you had to begin with. Your body could go into what is commonly known as "starvation mode" and start hoarding calories instead of shedding them. This would then have a reverse effect in the long run, making you gain weight instead of losing it. A much better way to lose weight and keep it off is to eat sensibly, rather than go on any kind of diet at all. Most diets, it is wise to remember, are temporary. While if you eat sensibly, then you can keep the weight you want permanently. This is always a better and more lasting effect. A proper diet would consist of a balanced mix of all essential food groups needed by the body, and a regimen of exercise.
