Vegetarian Diet for kids

Hi! I very well understand your concern, as I have a 4 year old son, myself. Do not panic, when you think of your son's diet. Your worries about your child's diet should never overpower you. I shall help you with a list of foods that are considered with his diet. Provide the child small portions of food. A 4 year old is capable of eating an adult's diet in a less spicy manner.

About 1300 calories are required by a 4 year child. Some children require slightly more and this is determined by the activity, height and weight of the child. Protein in your child's diet is vital, due to growth and development. Milk, soy, peanuts, egg whites and legumes provide proteins.   Foods rich in vitamin C, such as a glass of orange juice are helpful in improving the absorption of iron. Iron deficiency is common in this age and hence foods, such as green leaves, rice flakes, dried fruits, beans, pulses, fortified cereals, eggs and broccoli are given.

Dairy products and fortified fats are good sources of vitamin D. These are essential for calcium metabolism. Vitamin A in orange and yellow vegetables and fruits, dairy products and dark green vegetables are helpful in enhancement of vision, maintenance of skin and hair and membrane functions.
