It does sound as if your child is indeed overweight. You have not mentioned if your child has gained weight over a period of time or if the weight gain has been sudden. If the weight gain has occurred over a very short period of time, then you should consult a doctor at the earliest. Also, if your child has any other symptoms in addition to the increase in weight, then it is advisable to seek the advice and guidance of a professional doctor.

In the meanwhile you can help your child lose weight by explaining the need to shed the excess weight. Your child should be made to understand that he cannot be healthy unless he loses weight. This is necessary to ensure that the weight loss programme is something that your child is interested in. you will also have to explain to your child that the weight loss program is a long term one and that faithfully observing all the restrictions will help him lose weight.

You will have to instruct your child to take up some form of physical activity. He can take up jogging or swimming. Ensure that your child wakes up in the morning and follows this schedule regularly. Your child should have sufficient sleep and it will be your duty to make sure that your child goes to bed at an early hour. Sufficient sleep is the first step towards a healthy person.

In addition to the jogging you can enroll your child in some organized sports. The coach will help your child practice the exercises that can help him loose weight.

You will have to ensure that your child eats healthy food. What is important is that your child will have to eat this healthy food at a certain time. Instead, ensure that your child eats at a regularly hour in the morning, noon and night. Cut out all food items that contain white flour or sugar in them. Instead, encourage your child to use honey in place of sugar since this is a healthier option. Cut down on his intake of fried snacks since these are very unhealthy. Instead encourage him to eat fresh fruits. He can also be given fruit juices as long as you don't add sugar to them. Instead of forcing him to stay hungry, think of snacks that will not harm him even as they fill his stomach. With a little ingenuity on your part you should be able to cook healthy food that is low in oil and spices.
