Gastritis and Acid Reflex Diet

Chronic gastritis is a condition where in there is chronic persistent infection and inflammation of the stomach lining. Acid reflux is occurs when the acidic contents from the stomach tends to flow back in the esophagus which can not tolerate them. Try the following tips and dietary modifications to have control over your symptoms -

  • Eat small frequent meals, you can have a big meal at lunch but prefer light meals at dinner. As the symptoms tend to trouble at night prefer eating your meal 3-4 hours before going to bed.
  • Avoid sleeping/lying down or bending too much immediately after a meal. Make yourself busy in doing some household chores or simply reading or listening to music.
  • Drink lots of water as if you can tolerate coconut water then have a glass of it daily as it would have a soothing effect on the stomach lining.
  • Avoid eating foods particularly which worsen your symptoms common culprits include spicy foods, oily or fried foods, red pepper, red meat, pickles, cakes and pastries with heavy dressings, sour foods, strong tea, coffee and carbonated beverages. Also ban smoking and alcohol completely.
  • Exercise; be active instead of sitting at one place. A simple brisk walk for 30-40 minutes would also work wonders to improve your condition.
