Bread Carbohydrates

does any one know if bread contains carbohydrates. Searching for help for a while now?

Carbohydrates in Bread

Carbohydrates in bread include sugar and starch. Complex carbohydrates help in bowel movements and are made of three or more linked sugars. Soluble fibre helps in decreasing the low density lipoproteins. An ounce of bagel is equivalent to a slice of bread which has 15 grams of carbohydrates. Bread with low carbohydrate content is under research. Refined carbohydrates are seen in white toast, French bread and breadstick, which are replaced by oats porridge, wholemeal bread and dark rye crisp bread. Whole grain rice, wholemeal bread, whole wheat pasta is unrefined carbohydrates. These contain the whole grain with the germ and the bran. They are rich in fibre contributing to increased satiety. White bread contains refined carbohydrates. The high fibre bits, namely germ and bran are removed from the grain. Sugary cereals, white rice, noodles and pasta are refined carbohydrates. About 47 to 50 per cent of the diet is made of cereal, bread and potatoes. Around 18 grams of fibre is recommended per day. Reduced carbohydrates help in loss of weight in the initial stages. Over a period of time, low carbohydrates result in increased weight loss than a low fat diet. Thirty grams of carbohydrates are seen in each slice of round pita breads.

Rye bread comprises of 15 grams of carbohydrates.

A large slice of mixed grain bed- 15 grams

A large slice of Italian bread- 15 grams

100 grams of whole meal bread- 42 grams.
