Benefits of Carbohydrates in Fruits
Salads are an essential part of every meal. They are made of vegetables, fruits, legumes and so on. Dressing on salad gives a special look and taste to the salad. Mayonnaise is generally used. In case of weight reduction diets, lime juice, vinegar and olive oil are good substitutes. Cellulose in vegetables is not broken down in the system and hence raw green leaves are blended to speedup digestion and absorption. Vegetables or fruits are added to the blended salad. Lettuce and other greens are added to a salad, as green leaves are rich in antioxidants and phyto nutrients. Use of vinegar and lime juice in salads decreases stomach emptying and thus affects glucose metabolism. Sweeteners, added fillers and mayonnaise are also added. Avoid these if you are on diet or weight reduction. Nuts are also an essential part of salads. But, care is essential, as nuts are calorie dense and is not added during weight loss. Healthy fats and fibre are generally absent in most salads. Adding these enhances the diet in a wholesome manner. The carbohydrates in salads scrub the intestinal sides, thereby increasing the nutrient absorption. Certain chemical components such as quercetin (onion), lycopene (tomatoes) and indoles (broccoli) prove beneficial to the system.
