Pregnancy Diet

Is there anything similar to pregnancy diet. I heard about this from a friend, can you tell me something more about this?

Information on Diet during Pregnancy

Do you mean diet in pregnancy? What kind of a similarity are you talking about? Motherhood is one of the most welcomed period by a woman. A nutritious diet is one of the things of primary concern. A balanced diet comprising of carbohydrates, protein, fats, minerals and vitamins are recommended. The energy necessary for the body is provided by the carbohydrates. Pasta, cereal, tubers and rice are the best sources of carbohydrates. Calcium is essential for prevention of bone degeneration and for the development of strong teeth. Degeneration of bones is common in pregnancy, due to the increased demand by the developing foetus. Spinach, milk, sardines, salmon, cheese and yoghurt are helpful.

About 300 calories are required in excess. About 1000 mg per day is the requirement of calcium per day. About sixty grams of protein are recommended, which include poultry, fish, dried fruits, eggs, cheese, dried beans, nuts and lean meat. Iron requirement increases to 30 mg per day, due to increased blood volume. Iron supplements are recommended. Fish, red meat and poultry are food sources of iron. Multivitamin supplements comprising of folic acid is helpful in preventing Spina bifida and neural tube defect. A visit to a gynaecologist for further guidance is recommended.
