Advice on Anti Aging Supplement

As we age, it is said that we become more mature and are capable of taking any responsibility. People look at us with respect and dignity. But apart from this with age our skin will start loosing its youth and may become rough and dry. Our skin may form fine lines that and tend to sag leading to formation of wrinkles. Thus our age is seen on the skin and we may lose our soft and healthy skin. Apart from we may suffer from various disorders like diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, blood pressure, arthritis, osteoporosis and syndromeX.This occurs as our body is not having the capability to perform functions properly with age and there can be hormonal imbalances especially after menopause in women.

Though the nutrients that are essential to retard aging are available through diet, it is not always possible to have all the nutrients everyday as a result of which deficiencies can take place. Thus to avoid this supplements are available that can protect the tissues and the cell membrane from aging.

The various supplements available are:-

  • Antioxidants: These are naturally available through food. They are capable of inactivating free radicals. Free radicals can be formed easily even through simple body functions. Antioxidants help in scavenging the free radicals and can prevent its damage even before it starts. Supplements are available and proper dosage needs to be to off set the damage process of free radicals. The various antioxidants present are Vitamin C and E, selenium, grape seed extract, and bill berry extract and bioflavinoids.Foods that are rich in antioxidants are brightly colored like pomegranate, red bell pepper, cherries and red grapes.
  • Bromelin: - It is an enzyme derived from pineapple. It has anti inflammatory properties and are used to reduce pain and swelling. Bromelin is available in tablet or capsule form.500 mg of bromelin can be taken twice daily.
  • Vitamin C: - Vitamin C is very important. Apart from antioxidant and immune system modulator, it is essential for collagen synthesis and repair. Supplementation can go up to 5000mg per day along with the diet.
  • Flaxseed oil: - This oil is a part of essential fatty acids that contains both omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. It is cardio protective, immune system stimulating and anti inflammatory. Flaxseed oil contains the ratio of omega3 to omega 6 as 3 is to 1.Can have a tablespoon or twice daily.
  • Glucosamine sulfate: Glucosamine is an amino sugar that can help in cartilage production and repair. It stimulates the growth of glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans that are essential for cartilage production.Glucosamine in addition with chondroiton sulfate and methyl sulfonylurea methane can provide a support for cartilage formation as well as joint lubrication. A dose of 1500 mg glucosamine, 1200 mg chondroiton and 3000 mg methyl sulfonyl methane are taken in two divided doses.
Thus supplements are available that can be beneficial to the individual. However the supplements need to be taken with the advice of the doctor.
