Candida Diet for Yeast Infection

Candida albicans is yeast. Overgrowth of this yeast in the body calls for the intake of the candida diet. They are regulated by thee immune system. It is generally seen to occur in the vagina and the digestive tract. Cessation of the intestinal micro flora results in excessive growth of this yeast. This is attributed to the poor immune levels. Candida growth in excess results in skin infection, vaginal infections and oral thrush. Sugar is the most vital ingredient to be avoided, as yeast grows well on sugar medium. Carbohydrate intake is reduced.

On the basis of the activity level, age, food sensitivity and age, the intake of carbohydrates is restricted to less than sixty grams per day. Chicken, meat, turkey, nuts, non starchy vegetables and shellfish are some of the low carbohydrate foods that are recommended. A gradual increase in the carbohydrate levels is suggested, based on the betterment of the condition.

As it is a yeast infection, foods containing yeast are avoided. Tomato paste, mushrooms, cheese and fermented foods, such as bread and beer are not permitted. Fresh and canned fruits are restricted. All kinds of pickles and vinegar are also abstained from. Limited intake of cow's milk, butter, yoghurt and butter milk is advised.
