Diet Plan for Gout Disease

Individuals suffering from gout can control the painful disease by eliminating foods that high in purine and uric acid. Gout is induced by the accumulation of metabolic productions of uric acid in the joints, such as knee and elbow. Uric acid descends from the collapse of purines, which is a component part of composite proteins and amino acids that are the building blocks of the individual's DNA, RNA, etc.

Consumption of alcohol beyond normal limits along with some medications is likely to worsen the enzyme arrangement such that the body is unable to handle normal levels of purine. Such instabilities are likely to set off a gout attack.

Alcohol must be completely avoided, cut back the intake of refined flour products and saturated fats, as these step-up the retention of uric acid. Foods including anchovies, yeast products, broths and soups, roe of sturgeon or other large fish, red meats, seafood, etc must be abstained from, in a gout diet. Individuals with gout who are also obese can curtail the symptoms by reducing their weight and cutting back on high calorie foods. At least 2 to 3 liters of water must be drunk daily to dilute the concentration of uric acid in the urine.
