Syndrome X

The disease or ailment that is called syndrome X is actually a heart disease that is associated with metabolic syndrome.



This happens when there is a marked decrease in a person's blood flow to the heart despite the person having normal coronary arteries. This heart disease is marked with chest pain or angina and has symptoms like migraines and high levels of uric acid.



Metabolic syndrome, as Syndrome X is sometimes called also has other symptoms like high blood pressure and central obesity or the increase of fatty deposits around a person's waist. Diabetes type 2 is also another one of the symptoms associated with this illness.

This illness has recently seen an increase in the number of people who are afflicted by it.



In the US alone, there is an approximation that 25% of the population is afflicted with metabolic syndrome. Once a person is afflicted with this disease, his chances of getting diabetes or getting any cardiovascular disease will rise.
