Diet for Jaundice and Jaundice Remedies For Jaundice diet, lime and lemon are recommended fruits.
I wanted to ask whether citrous fruits are allowed?What about raw banana and raw mango (not fruits) and tamarind pulp? Is this club supported by any qualified doctors?
Yes citrus fruits are allowed if you are suffering from jaundice. When your bilirubin levels are high often a clear liquid diet should be followed for first 2-3 days. This includes liberal intake of boiled water, different fruits and vegetable juices like orange juice, lemon juice, sweet lime juice, apple juice, carrot juice, beetroot juice and clear vegetable soups.
An increased intake of fluids will help to excrete excess bilirubin from your system via urine. So drink a lot of water and other fluids. If you feel nauseated then you can even suck on a piece of raw mango soaked in salt as this will make you feel better.
Raw banana and tamarind are also not restricted in a jaundice diet per say; however the intake should not exceed and the main focus should be on a well balanced meal for faster recovery.
How to cure Jaundice with Jaundice Diet? Maintain proper personal hygienic levels. Make sure that all the foods that you eat are well cleaned and washed before cooking. Avoid eating outside food or junk food as far as possible. Also the amount of fat should be limited in your diet as it can add extra pressure on the already compromised liver for digestion. Also limit the intake of spicy foods; preferably eat easily digestible, soft, bland food for few days. Mild form of jaundice can be easily treated with the help of these dietary modifications and adequate rest. Avoid any kind of stress be it physical or emotional as stress can delay the healing process or the recovery period. As you gradually recover focus on whole grains, cereals and its products, fresh fruits and vegetables for complex carbohydrates and avoid processed and refined foods completely. You can get your proteins from low fat dairy products, eggs, well cooked sprouts, pulses, beans, fish, meat and poultry without the skin.
Avoid other fatty sources of proteins like organ meats, shell fish, pork, meat, and poultry with skin because these foods may be difficult to digest.
