Foods for Acne

Taking drugs and applying creams and lotions externally to combat acne will not serve any purpose.



External applications and drugs are ineffective remedies for acne treatment, as they only temporarily suppress the sebaceous glands. Since the root cause of acne is an unhealthy dietary lifestyle, a natural acne treatment diet will remedy the problem.

Certain types of food aggravate acne in some people and must be avoided during acne treatment.



These include fried foods, dairy products, non-vegetarian food, sweet and salty snacks, hydrogenated oils, highly processed foods containing gluten and sulphate preservatives. Excessive consumption of alcoholic, aerated and caffeine beverages, smoking, sedentary and stressed lifestyles also contribute to acne.





A diet rich in whole, organic unprocessed raw foods primarily consisting of fruits, sprouts and vegetables will go a long way in resolving your acne and overall health. Increase your intake of foods rich in omega-3 fats like flaxseed, evening primrose oil, salmon, sardines and mackerel.

A liberal intake of vitamin A or beta-carotene, B6, C, E, niacin and zinc either as supplements or as part of the diet through foods is extremely beneficial in curing acne. While vitamin A aids in skin healing, zinc helps the body resist infection and eliminates scarring.

If the progress is slow, embarking upon a detoxification diet program to eliminate acne is a very effective solution. As autointoxication or self poisoning results when decaying matter within our bodies releases toxins which pass through the blood stream and cause a range of ailments including acne. A two-day all fruit fast will help speed up the detoxification process.



Besides, consuming at least two liters of water helps in flushing the toxins out of your system. It will also assist in the proper functioning of your lungs, lymph, skin, liver, kidneys and bowels.

Natural Acne Treatments :


Natural acne treatments include local application of tea tree oil, shea butter, jojoba oil, lemon and unprocessed honey on the skin eruption, which reduces the inflammation, scarring, rejuvenates the skin and eliminates the bacteria emanating from the pimple.
