A gallstone does not cause hair loss: Is there any hair loss problem in gallstone? There are many causes for hair loss besides gallstones.
Gall stones cannot cause any effect on your hair in terms of hair loss or growth. Gall stones are small stones (size can range from few millimeters to few centimeters) formed in the gall bladder which is a part of the biliary system. Hair loss can be due to multiple reasons like a prolong illness, alteration in the hormonal levels, use of chemicals, poor scalp hygiene, after pregnancy, fungal infections or certain medications.
Causes for gall stones totally differ from that of hair loss and includes high cholesterol levels in the body, sudden drastic weight loss, and infrequent or incomplete gallbladder emptying. Depending on your severity of symptoms for hair loss and gallstones your treatment shall differ. Consult a specialist to know the exact cause for both - your hair loss and gallstone formation.
Gallstones may not require any treatment at all if they are too small or cause no symptoms at all. However if you feel pain or other symptoms of gallstones increase then discuss surgical and non surgical options with your specialist before taking any drastic steps. Till then you can focus on a low fat, high fiber diet and weight loss (if you are above your ideal body weight). Losing even few pounds will help to ease your symptoms, but remember weight loss should be gradual. Make realistic goals to lose not more than one pound per week as a drastic weight loss can make your symptoms worse. Focus on fresh fruits and vegetables, whole cereals, grains and its products, sprouts, beans and low fat or fat free dairy products. Avoid fatty foods, oily foods, junk foods, carbonated beverages, bakery foods and sweets as far as possible because besides adding extra calories in your diet they also affect your cholesterol levels in the body. Water is an important nutrient which should not be forgotten. Have a lot of water, at least 10-12 glasses per day.
These diet modifications will not only help to ease your gallbladder symptoms but also help prevent hair loss.
To prevent hair losses maintain adequate scalp hygiene; if you have dandruff clear that first. Wash your hair every alternate day and use a hair conditioner (depending on your hair type) to decrease hair tangling and loss. Avoid using any styling products or excess chemicals used perm or permanent straightening. Frequent blow drying and ironing can also cause hair damage. To treat your hair loss problem it is important to know the cause first. |
