Lipotropics

These supplements are similar to thermogenics and help in preventing the build up of fat, but are a little less harsh on the body.



Lipotropics are a combination of more than one of the following ingredients.

  1. Choline/ Inositol – They are B Vitamins that prevent the buildup of fat in the liver.



    They are known to convert fat into energy within one cell itself.
  2. L-Carnitine – It is an amino acid, but the chemical composition is similar to the vitamin choline.



    They are also known to be helpful in preventing accumulation of fat in the liver and are also necessary for the body in converting fat to energy.
  3. L-Methionine – This essential amino acid acts as an antioxidant and protects the body against harmful free radicals. Fat present in the body can be broken down by its aid. Thereby it protects the liver against fatty accumulation.



    However large doses should be avoided.
  4. Pantothenic acid – It is sometimes called Vitamin B5 and it produces energy from fat. It breaks down both amino and fatty acids in the body.
  5. Pyruvate – Supplement form is believed to enhance the production of energy. To be effective on weight control, high doses of pyruvate are required, but seek professional advise before that.
