- Learn to identify correct ways for weight loss and never fall in for the gimmicks and promises which the fad diets make.
Although these diets will help in quick weight loss they are never a healthy option. Most of these diets often restrict intake of more than one or two food groups and offer unusual combinations of foods which force you to starve. This leads to weight loss mainly in the form of water, but as soon as you return to your normal lifestyle and diet you will gain more weight. So the best way to lose weight is by following a proper balanced diet low in fat and regular exercise. - Avoid skipping meals or overeating at one time. Focus on whole grains, cereals and its products instead of consuming processed and refined foods and its products. Simple sugars and processed foods are striped from major nutrients in the refining process and thus provide only calories and no other major nutrients.
- Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in the form of salads and desserts.
Certain fruits and vegetables provide more carbohydrates and can be restricted or avoided; these include root vegetables like potato, yam, sweet potato, banana, sapota, custard apple and mango. - Include good proteins from fish, fat free dairy products, beans, sprouts, egg whites and lean cuts of meat and poultry in moderation. Other high protein foods like organ meats, shell fish, pork, ham and meat are also high in cholesterol and saturated fats so should be avoided.
- Certain foods you need to avoid completely are alcohol, fatty foods, oily or fried foods, junk foods, fatty desserts, bakery foods, sweetened juices, colas, sodas, sweets, chocolates, and carbonated beverages.
- Drink plenty of water and increase your physical activity. Involve yourself in different activities you like to perform, for example jogging, running, gardening, swimming, cycling, table tennis or even brisk walking. Remember any weight loss without an exercise regime is incomplete.
